Since childhood I have always loved drawing and painting.  It was after our four children were at secondary school that I had the opportunity to take up art seriously.

I enrolled in classes, became completely hooked, and owe so much to the inspiration of those wonderful teachers.  Since then, sketching and painting has become an integral part of my life. I still regularly attend workshops led by local artists and particularly enjoy working in watercolour and more recently in oils.

For me, painting is a response to the things around me in the natural world: the beauty of the landscape wherever I am; the joy of seeing grandchildren playing; the excitement of a carnival band; the quizzical look from a sheep on the fells.  All these things and more just make me want to get out my paints.
